Quick warm-up and an even quicker mosey. The men of the “Silence” got an introduction to my tire.  The first chore was to carry it to the field – with the wonderful murky water included – 4-5 PAX at a time carrying it over head, and rotating out.  The exercises we did were: tire flips, tire jumps, tire pull, push over squats, leg presses.

To me the best part of the Beatdown was the participation of all the PAX. I wasn’t well prepared, there were more guys than I expected which created more down time in between exercises. No one really wanted to stand around while waiting for their date with the tire, so random exercises were called out (merkins, squats, American hammers, etc) – not because of my suggestion, but because someone spoke up and took the lead.  There were a couple 2.0s out, and there was always someone there to help them with the tire. I mean, its about 275lbs! There wasn’t any prodding to get the tire back to the truck, everyone stepped up, and it was carefully placed in the bed with care and, well, silence.

We ended with COT – lots of parental advice and encouragement, prayers and of course coffee! For be it was a joy to be there, I really didn’t want to leave the coffateria. A fine group of men at Radio Silence. Keep up the good work – sow, plant and serve, that’s what F3 is all about.  Keep at it fellas!

One more thing:  Piano Man felt the need to give the tire a name. I think he felt a deep connection. So in his honor, the tire shall henceforth be called “Despair“. If ever you see her in the gloom, treat her with the respect she deserves.
