The BackBlast:
Intro:
3 PAX means enough toys for everyone to get in some heavy work.
Warm-o-Rama:
SSH x 29 IC (why 29?, why not?)
Hillbillies x 10 IC
Weed Pickers x 10 IC
Stretch / Warm up OYO as needed for a few minutes
The Thang:
Workout #1:
30/20/10 KB sumo DL highpulls/Burpees. KB selection to choose from 35,53,70lb.
Workout #2:
Grab your sandbag and show it some love. Bag Bear hug carries. No locking of the hands. Walk with bag until someone drops. PAX who drops calls an exercise. Exercises were as follows: American Hammers x 25, Merkins x 50, Carolina Dry Docks x 25. Last drop didn’t count. Instead PAX picked up bags for continued carry which ended up being about 200m.
COT:
Safe travels for Snooker and the M next week. Pray that his 2.0s behave for Grandma while they are gone. Baker’s M hurt her foot over the weekend and is on crutches. Pray for speedy recover. Thankful for another day and the ability to get after it!
Naked Man Moleskin:
Slack blew up yesterday with guys saying they wouldn’t make it today. When YHC pulled up for foreplay and Sweater Vest wasn’t present (he always beats YHC to the AO) I started to worry. No factor. I was going to run regardless. But wait! Is that a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s Sweater Vest! I admit, running in the rain at 4:45am is always better with company.
Snooker showed up in time to get in about 10 mins of complaining before the BD. His upbeat personality can only take so many BDs in the rain before the pessimism takes over. Good news is, once Snooker starts to work, the complaining goes away. He apparently sweats it out with great efficiency.
YHC had several technical difficulties. Speaker battery died. FAIL! Then YHC couldn’t find his skull cap. Looking for that hat held up the show for a good 5 mins. How I can loose something that was just on my head, and I haven’t moved more than 30′, baffles me. Luckily, Sweater Vest had his “Turse” (technical purse), in which he carries his speaker. It took a minute to work through the technical challenges of getting his gear to blast tunes, but finally we were ready to work.
Snooker and YHC played it safe and chose the lighter KBs. Sweater Vest can’t look at something heavy without picking it up, so of course he grabbed the Red Bell of Death, the 70lb. We all finished at about the same time, so I feel we choose wisely.
Rain, Burpees, Carries, KB swings = good Spartan training. Bear Hug carries are challenging. Especially when a locked grip is denied.
3 men refused the fartsack to meet up in the rain and make themselves extremely uncomfortable. I call that a Win.
