A couple of months ago and unnamed PAX had a stupid idea to participate in the Brasstown Bald Buster, a racing event from the bottom of Brasstown Bald, highest mountain in GA, to the top. This PAX suckered EH’d several other PAX into joining him. Originally more PAX had signed up for the event, but due to various reasons some of the PAX couldn’t make it. The PAX all signed up for the 25 lb Ruck division.

The weather forecast leading up to the event was not favorable to pleasant conditions. Luckily this is F3 where we work out rain or shine, hot or cold! The PAX who were able to attend rondevoused at 0400 for the drive up. Also in attendance was Switchback (FiA, E-Tool’s M).

Upon arrival, the PAX learned that due to the inclement weather, the route had been altered from the original route, presumably for the sake of safety. QIC Short Circuit proposed that the PAX in attendance flip their bats and stick to the original route. After much cajoling, dynamic shame goading and arm twisting he finally convinced them, with the exception of Switchback, who was running and not rucking.

The PAX attended the race briefing and proceeded to startex at the bottom of the mountain. After they synched Swatches, they began their ascent. It was a difficult climb and the PAX enjoyed the challenge, finishing the course strong and with enthusiasm. Neither the course difficulty nor the unpleasant weather conditions turned out to be as formidable as expected.

The PAX then adjourned to a fine establishment and had coffee, breakfast and shared some fellowship together before heading home.
