The BackBlast:
Intro:
There were a lot moving parts at the Pineapple this morning. Two HC’s bailed last minute due to alleged illnesses. Dump Truck came rolling in hot on two wheels at 5:30 sharp. Odd Job spent 15 minutes in the sketchy public bathroom and emerged just in time for warm-o-rama. And YHC was nervous about the creek level, but I knew we’d cross the creek somehow!
Warm-o-Rama:
While waiting for Dump Truck to exit his vehicle, for what seemed like 3 minutes, PAX did imperial walkers, copperhead merkins, michael phelps, and sun gods. Dump Truck finally sauntered up to the group, exclaiming that his plaid golf shorts were too big and something about his shoes. Oh well, time to start running (finally).
The Thang:
Take trail across Downing creek and instead of going out to lake, cross bridge leading up long hill to YHC’s house, at top of Millwood Drive. YHC had sandbags ready in front yard. Once at YHC’s, perform the following routine in honor of Valentine’s Day:
L-unges with sandbags (14 each leg);
O-verhead presses with sandbags (14)
V- ups (14)
E-lf on the shelf with sandbags (14 total (7 each side))
Run back down Millwood drive hill, back into woods and back to starting point. Total miles: 3.4
COT:
6th man was Seaman. He talked about how he was introduced to F3 and its impact on his life.
Thanks to Sky Q for day, able bodies, and camaraderie.
Prayers for Sharapova’s M and Papa John.
Naked Man Moleskin:
This beat down started off with an ominous tone, but we finished relatively on time and with no injuries. Love running the steep incline out of the woods and up to YHC’s house – it’s a brutal ascent. Highlights this morning included:
- The PAX traversing an overflowing Downing Creek twice during which PAX were knee deep in the water
- The chorus of wet sneakers squeaking up and down Millwood Drive
- YHC leading the PAX well off the trail on the way back and almost onto the 14th green before realizing he was lost
- Good opportunities for mumblechatter during PT while waiting for the 6
- No coffee (thanks Lucky Charms)
Shout out to Odd Job who did a great job of sticking with the six
