YHC had the Q on a day that I was over dressed for the cold. My trusty Apple Watch failed me in many ways today but that’s beside the point. As we arrived I had two beatdowns planned and decided to call it last minute as we saw what kind of numbers we would have show. Guess there will need to be a sequel shortly as both are automotive themed haha…
Warm-o-rama
We set out for a brief mosey and then did your typical circle, principles, and exercises to warm up. Out of nowhere Nesquick arrived like a racer late to the grid—must have been doing some last minute qualifying. We then set out into the gloom to get the miles and work in…
The Thang
Went with the NASCAR themed workout today. We will get the European version at some point in the future.
We started with a little team work and lots of laps — key for any good racer. Pax divided up into teams of 3 and one group took a right to make the big loop around the high school parking lot, other group headed left. Specific exercises were as follows:
- Alternated 15 Big Boys / LBCs at first set of stairs
- Alternated 15 Merkins / Squats at second set of stairs
- Alternated 15 Flutter Kicks / American Hammers (double count) at last set of stairs
- When the two groups passed on their run — team up with other group and do 5 partner burpees
Last leg of the workout we practiced our drafting skills. Just like on those super speedways you have to line up and pick your spot to pass. Indian run to get the mileage up with each Pax taking a turn to sprint to front. It was noted that M2M was feeling extra spry today and was bumping the pace when he got up to the lead…
Afterwards typical announcements, prayer requests, balled it up. Coffeteria was great as always — and thankfully less frigid. Some said we got 2.5 miles some said 3.1 — although some people joined late so maybe the mosey made the difference? Like how many bites it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop, the world may never know…
