Mental toughness is a muscle that should be exercised regularly, in fact just as regularly as your physical muscles. Doing the murph will push your bounds on both fronts. This Q was put together to keep your heart rate up, the constant movement will help later down the road when doing the actual murph.

Solider to remember:

SGT Jared Monti, Army, KIA June 21, 2006 at the age of 30

Monti was deployed with his unit when they were attacked by a group of enemy insurgents. One of Monti’s men was wounded, Monti attempted to rescue him on his third attempt he was gunned down by the enemy. Monti’s family received the medal of honorĀ  presented at the white house in 2009.

Significance: I chose Jared Monti because his story inspired Lee Brices song “I drive your truck”. I remember first hearing this song and just crying, I’ve been extremely fortunate to not have anyone that I’m close with pass away. However, in that moment I could feel the pain of those that have, and that song is exactly how I would choose to remember my brother, sister, mother or father.

COT: we prayed for our country, the men and women that have sacrificed everything for our freedoms, and for healing of our nation may we start that right here in our own community and may other communities be inspired to do the same.

If you have made it this far, here are some parting thoughts

I first completed the Murph in December really to support Maaco, Jack Bauer and Dufresne on there 52 completed Murphs. As I started to think of why I wanted to do Murph it was more about me and getting myself better. What I’ve learned through coming is its a lot more about the people you surround yourself with, who pushes you, and the ultimate REASON why we do it. Is to celebrate the life of those that have made the ultimate sacrifice protecting our country, it’s a very sobering thought. One that emotionally drives me to push further into the darkness knowing I still can while others cannot.
