Given the pandemic hiatus and YHC’s recovering slowly from a bout with plantar fasciitis, it has been quite awhile since I Q’ed my old stand-by boot camp. Felt really good to be back out there with my brothers at the Clinic. Thank you to the PAX listed, as well as Butterfly, who has yet to be added to the list, I suppose. Glad you posted, and I hope you are, too.
Warm-o-Rama:
“Short” mosey from the shovel flag at Woodstock’s amphitheater up to the front parking lot of Chatt Tech. Circle up for a brief disclaimer, 25 SSH in cadence, 20 Imperial Walkers in cadence, maybe some other stuff, and then down into a 30-second plank hold. Saluki at this point requests a quick story time episode. YHC thought he was offering to tell a story instead. And no one had any good content, so we just planked to the sounds of the quiet morning and then knocked out 10 s l o w merkins, holding a bit in up and down position for effect. Or for affect. Or both.
The Thang:
Mosey to the bottom of the Chatt Tech side lot for instructions. DORA 1-2-3 – partner up (with the appropriate 6-foot social distance betwixt), one partner moseys to the light post back at the top of the parking lot hill whilst the other partner begins the cumulative rep counts of three exercises. Each pair of PAX completed 100 BBS, 200 OHP/raise-da-roof, and 300 squats. Well into some good quad burn, we continued the pain for just a minute and headed out together up the side stairs and through the middle of campus, back up the sidewalk to the front parking lot for 25 dips OYO on the low stone wall. A brief recovery was allowed at this point before bear crawling up the south driveway (Innovation Way) to the upper parking lot, where we circled up for a mini-pyramid-of-pain. Complete rounds of merkins and squats at 5 reps each, 6 reps each, up to 10 and back down to 5. Very effective.
Mosey back to the top of the amphitheater’s north side via the rat trap alley behind the shops, circling up on our sixes for three rounds of Mary. We finished our 45 minutes perfectly with two 50-meter crab walks on the tiers of the amphitheater before moseying back to the flag.
COT: We are praying for our nation as protests cause trouble and folks are upset. We are praying for several brothers around the circle and one who did not post. Mostly we are just thankful for confidence to approach the Lord of the universe and everything in it without fear, expecting mercy and grace, because of His great love.
Shout out to Foosball for being tougher than broken ribs and for bringing coffee in the coolest carafe in F3 Nation. To Saluki and Stopwatch for picking up the six. To our newbies, Lifeboat and Butterfly for working hard and crushing it. To Twinkle Toes for making the drive down to a new (to him) AO to meet some new brothers and give me free stuff. To AOL and Gotti for having each other’s back, posting together, and shaking off the dust of the shelter-in-place doldrums. To Driftwood for his gigantic stride, making me want to run farther and faster on those long, ehem, I mean, short moseys. And to every man who posts at the Clinic regularly to keep this workout going and growing. The culture here is top notch.
Brothers, thank you for joining me for a good little boot camp and COT. We are getting stronger together in fitness, fellowship, and faith. And my life is so much richer for it.
