Quick warm-o-rama – the usual SSHs, weed pickers and lots of sun-gods and Michael Phelps. Had to loosen up the shoulders! Then we quickly took an extension ladder off my truck. It’s a 28’ ladder, and heavy! Probably 100lbs or so. Just to add to the pain, I spaced out 3 30lb rucksacks on the ladder.
The mission was to carry the ladder around the ball fields for an hour. We stopped at the half way points and did various exercises like merkins, flutter kicks, squats, merkins, pickle pointers and merkins. Did I mention the merkins?!? It was day one of the May Merkin Challenge, we had to get some in. We started strong with the ladder overhead on the first lap. Next lap and half it got lowered to our shoulders and then the low-carry was the best we had. Didn’t seem like much of a workout, but we got in over 2 miles and my shoulders were wrecked the rest of the day.
My favorite part was that we took turns walking along side the group for a “rest” for 1/2 a lap. We went in age order and the lucky PAX got pelted with questions. Various questions about family, work, F3, how they got their F3 name, fitness goals, sports played, and a load of nonsense questions. It was great that while getting some exercise we also got to know each other better! When you combine 1st and 2nd Fs, good times are to be had!!
Pro tip: you don’t need any experience to work on the cloud
We joined up with Wartown for the COT. Followed by coffiteria.
