YHC had been looking at the playground in DTW, and figured this Q would be a good time to take the PAX on a field trip to go have some fun there. So on the day before YHC’s Q (Sunday) YHC’s M (FiA Switchback) and YHC scouted the area and planned some hijinks.
YHC stopped by early the morning of to do a little prep work and then pre-ran a few miles. Off to a late start so had to hustle to make the “start on time” commandment. Circled the PAX up about a minute early for some warmarama. Wanted to start the run to the playground ASAP, so some OYO Sun Gods, Michael Phelps, and SSH were the extent, and that was just to catch any late arrivals if there were any.
We started a slow indian mosey towards the playground to keep the PAX together. They weren’t sure what was going on at first but soon caught on.
The THANG…
Once at the playground the Q gave the disclaimer, and then explained the order of operation.
1. 5 Maaco Murpees on the playground rope feature. Then, traverse the rope feature to the opposite side, making sure to cross over the top of the wooden supports. Once on the other side, 5 more Maaco Murpees.
2. Proceed to adjacent tunnel. The price for tunnel admittance is 10 Merkins. Then bear Crawl through tunnel.
3. Proceed to next, smaller, tunnel. The price for tunnel admittance is 20 LBFKs (little baby flutter kicks). Then crab walk through tunnel.
4. Run through ditch underneath wooden walkway and up the rocks at the far end of walkway. Run down walkway back to rope feature. Repeato.
After the PAX had a chance to complete the circuit two or more times, we moved to the adjacent field for some relay races. Teams of three. Pax one Bear Crawled to the first cone to tag PAX two, who Crab Walked to the second cone to Tag PAX three. PAX three then sprinted back to the start, and bear crawled to PAX one, who Crab walked to Pax two, etc. In this fashion all the PAX had ample opportunity to bear crawl and crab walk. While the PAX were waiting on their partners to crawl/walk/run to them they held plank.
After a few relays were completed by each team we gathered up to mosey back to the amphitheater. Once we got back, a quick loop of the stairs and then circled up for the PAX to have an opportunity to call out some of their favorite excercises. YHC is late posting this BB and the individual exercises called escape me but fun was had by all. We circled up for the count/namearama, sixth man (Stiletto), prayer requests and announcements.
NMM
It was great to see Stopwatch out in the gloom. He rucked with Office Party. He said he’s doing much better and we hope to see him out in the gloom more.
It’s always a pleasure and an honor to lead the HIM of F3Cherokee in a beatdown, and still mildly surprising when they actually allow YHC to lead and follow his insane directives.
There was some trepidation on some of the PAX’s parts, YHC included, while navigating across the rope feature on the playground, and some hilarious mumblechatter. Barbossa told the PAX to watch out for the “nut splicer” and thus the title of the beatdown coalesced. I always look forward to my next Q!
