Intro:

VQ for YHC, so let’s mix together something I love (baseball) with something I hate (sprints).

Warm-o-Rama:

Short mosey to the flat bed trailer for some Imperial Walkers, SSH’s, and diamond merkins.  Mosey counter-clockwise around the park for a reverse culturally appropriate run where the lead runner sprints to the end of the line for 5 merkins and sprints to the back of line to catch up.  Continued that until we reached the football field.

The Thang:

Welcome to Spring Training:

Pitchers and catchers report on Monday, so let’s celebrate.

9 Innings–  Broken up into two workouts per inning.

1st –  Complete the assigned exercise on the board OYO.  The reps could be reduced each inning based on how far a PAX could throw the ball from the goal line (Sorry guys, my daughter plays softball. No baseballs in this house.), and a bonus reduction of –25 reps if YHC caught the throw on the fly.  Example, PAX throws the ball 45 yards, and YHC catches it. You get to reduce the reps by 70.  We had some good throws and catches (PB and Rembrandt come to mind).  Rugburn sailed one over YHC’s head.  Gotta respect the left-handed cannon.  To add to the fun, the group had to sprint to the spot where the ball was thrown to and sprint back before completing the exercise count.

 2nd– Baseball Trivia

Each inning had two trivia questions.  Each was valued at either a single, double, triple, or inside the park home run.  YHC randomly called on a PAX to answer.  If he got the answer correct, we all sprinted to the appropriate base and jogged back to home plate.  If he answered incorrectly, we sprinted to the appropriate base and also performed the associated exercise.  We only got 30% of the questions correct, so we did a lot of extra credit.

We did go into extra innings, and we let PB throw one more time, and he chose the exercise.  He requested 100 shoulder taps and launched it 50 yards.  YHC misjudged how far PB was going to throw it and caught it on the bounce.  50 shoulder taps for all.  We moseyed back to the flag and combined with our Woodshed brothers for 64 Kodiak count SSH’s in honor of HardDrive’s birthday.

COT:

Rugburn was the sixth man.  He said that he was hoping that he wasn’t going to be the sixth man, so you know how that goes.  He is thankful for F3 and what it has done for him and wants us to continue scouting for FNG’s.  Prayers for Sharapova’s M and Ellie’s family.

Naked Man Moleskin:

16 fellow PAX’s showed up for my VQ.  That was much appreciated, and we had the same numbers as The League, so it’s proof that you don’t need a frisbee to bring all of the boys to the yard.  YHC is glad that everyone knows who Kennesaw Mountain Landis is now, and PB said to YHC at one point that he wished that he had not been invited to F3.  YHC will take that as the ultimate compliment.
