The new ag building at Creekview High School has been completed for a while now and a rooster has taken up residency. Since we run by his pen and wake him up on Mondays and Wednesdays YHC thought it would be fun to put that dude to good use. Today’s beatdown had 1 additional rule to follow (in addition to the core tenets of F3)….the rooster calls the burpees! Everytime we hear him “crow” we drop and do 3 burpees. If I only knew what I was getting us into…
Warm – O – Rama
We mosyed to the back to the bus lanes and circled up. After a standard set of SSHs, Weedpickers, Hillbillies, etc. I explained the rule to the PAX. We then headed towards the cul de sac in the back (conveniently not far from the VIR – very important rooster).
The Thang
To get the blood flowing we started with 2 round of 4 corners. ..once counterclockwise and then back around clockwise. 25 reps of Mountain Climbers, Squats, Merkins, and LBC’s. However, it was difficult to get the evolution started as the rooster decided to crow 4 times. We knocked out our 12 burpees and got started.
Next we circled up around the cul de sac (mucho social distancing due to only 5 pax in attendance this morning) and planked while each one took a lap around the circle. The overachievers hurdled the PAX while some (YHC) just ran.
We moved the two cones 100ft apart and completed a Wilt Chamberlin routine. Total of 4 exercises (100 reps each) 2 at each cone. LBC’s, Squats, Flutter Kicks, Lunges.
We lined up for a Indian Run variant called “Do a Diddie” where the front man falls out of line and performs 10 monkey humpers. He catches up the group and yells “6” for the next guy to fall out. Did a loop around the bus lanes and just about got two full rotations completed when, once again, the rooster decided we needed some burpees.
With less than 10 minutes we partnered up and squeezed in a mini-Dora to finish things out. 50 American Hammers, 100 Lunges, and 150 SSH cumulative count while the partner ran across the cul de sac to the chain link fence and back. Legionnaire treated the PAX to some unofficial burpees in the process! Pressed for time we had to cut it short and head to the flag. Ended up getting back right at 6:15!
COT / BOM
Well…it was an exceptionally nice morning for January so thankful for that. We learned that rooster likes to crow in sets of 4. Somehow he knew the exact amount of time it takes to perform 3 burpees and would wait right until we finished up before crowing again. Not sure of an exact count but C4 estimated we ended up north of 40 burpees thanks to that bird!
We lifted up Scamper in our COT this morning. Thought prayers during this time brother. Praise for Pella’s grandmother who is feeling well during her time in hospice. Prayers for a match for Pella’s cousin who is need of a kidney and for wisdom for Legionnaire’s sister’s healthcare team to determine the next round of treatment.
Thanks for playing “Rooster Calls the Burpees!”
