Beatdowns have been getting more creative at StoneClad in the past few months with new torture devices being brought and used accordingly. YHC knew that a sandbag beatdown had not occurred here in a while. Therefore many sandbags were borrowed, loaded into the SUV for days (serious stank…maybe we should wash them sometimes…), and unloaded early this morning onto the League field in order to have a little fun.
Mosey from the “flag”. YHC never really saw the flag, but a mosey was started down towards the League field when a lone set of headlights came rushing it. The car was not going 100 mph and squalling tires, so YHC knew that it was not Gringo. The mosey group turned around to pick up the straggler, Tulip, and continued down to the field. YHC is very happy that the Cherokee Rec Dept loves us and lets us use the field 99.9% of the time when we want to do so.
The Thang:
Part 1: Workout Exercises Pyramid:
10 manmakers with sandbag
20 sandbag pull through merkins
30 sandbag thrusters
40 sandbag deadlifts
50 sandbag benchpresses
40 sandbag cleans
30 overhead presses with sandbags
20 over-the-shoulder sandbag tosses
10 sandbag get-ups
Part 2: 11’s with a partner and a sandbag
**Key point was that both partners had to hold onto the sandbag for the entire circuit of 11’s while doing all exercises
-sandbag squat on Side A
-rifle carry sandbag
-merkin on Side B with hand on sandbag
-lunge walk holding onto sandbag
Part 3:
Sandbag races using 14 sandbags ranging from 120lb’s down to 20lb’s.
-Divided up into 2 teams
-One team member from each team sprinted to the pile of sandbags, grabbed one, and sprinted back to the start.
-The rest of the team held an air squat while waiting for their turn.
-Winner was the team that had the most lb’s of sandbags.
-Winning team held planks while losing team did 10 burpees.
-We raced 2 times and ran out of time to do more of these.
**This got a little competitive as the juices started flowing for a few guys. The immovable object met the irresistible force as Tulip and Bo Peep had a couple of good collisions. So far the irresistible force won, but I think this one will be continued. 🙂
Mosey back to the flag for COT. Prayers for Pookie’s baby and upcoming surgery, victims of recent housefire in Holly Springs, Doubtfire’s friend with pancreatic cancer, and praise/prayer for Baby Ruth’s mom.
NMM: YHC enjoys working out and conversing with the men of the Clad. To YHC, the regulars are some of the best in F3 Cherokee at encouraging, reaching out to others, and just having a good time.
