After watching my son at FURY working hard pushing sleds, Harp and I went out to validate if a regular sled with a grown man could be pushed on the Veteran’s astroturf…..fail – needs ice!
In light of that, I figured we could still develop a good beatdown and attempt to obtain the elusive 5k promise which by the reports of an inferior apple product reported we attained. Star on the forehead for me!
Having secured sufficient sleds the plan was in place along with a long rope to tie around LawDog’s yapping neck. When everyone arrived, we ran WhiteClaw’s loop backwards as this was to be a most peculiar gloom. With the company of Duke, Casey and Bo we completed the warm up circuit, picked up the sand bags and wasted no time with the lame formalities of a warmup circle. We deposited a bag on each sled and instructions were CLEARLY expressed (FUDD)!
1.- Tow a sled across the football field and back – complete 20 BBSUs 2.- Push the sled across the football field and back – complete 20 BBSUs 3.- Pull the sled across the football field and back whilst running backwards – complete 20 BBSUs 4.- Rope Pull HARPs Monstrous Bag halfway back to you and then carry it back to its place – no BBSUs 5, 6 and 7 were repeats of 1, 2 and 3.
8.- Run around the far side of the football field and head back to the RUGBY field’s FIRST GOAL POST or fence post or whatever and then run on the field all the way to the end of the fence (not the cut off point HOMEBOY!) – whatever.
RINSE and REPEAT as many times as possible.
***Do not let the black dogs get in your way as you perform your exercises.
***Do not mind the dying baying red bone hound as she is pursued bay a gnat called Bo.
***Don’t moan like a big sissy whinny baby when pushing a sled gets hard!
COT was vividly memorable as the men present this day poured out from their innermost souls sharing struggles and wounds and pains and challenges. We came together and I prayed that God would work thru us as we conduct ourselves with our families and friends and while at work.
Then we all made a B-LINE for RaceTrac to top a perfect morning off with a cup of joe (or a cold brew)!
