It was one mile, because it wasn’t two. It was a slow mile, because it was led by Hooch.
The theme of my life lately has been to just slow down. So we took a nice slow tour of DTW, stopping at various well-lit points of interest to take it all in. To slow down and gather our thoughts. At first, I thought the long planks were a mumblechatter killer, but the PAX were just waking up. By the end of the beatdown, every man was chatting it up and springing to their feet, ready to mosey some more.
Warm-O-Rama: Mosey around the amphitheater lawn and stage, circle up in the center lawn. No FNG’s this morning, so we’d better think of a fella to invite next time. In Cadence: 15 SSH, 10 Weed Pickers, 15 Tennessee Hillbillies, and OYO Sun Gods before our first 60-Second Plank, during which YHC laid out the plan for the morning.
Mosey here and there throughout Woodstock’s downtown area, stopping at 10 locales to plank for one minute, immediately followed by 10 merkins with no rest between. We’d then complete 10 reps of a leg exercise before moseying to the next stop on the string of pearls. Since we were expanding the limits of the AO and on the move the whole time, we buddied up, so as to not leave any man behind.
All in all, we got in about a mile and a half. We’ll call it a long, slow mile, since it wasn’t two. The PAX completed our route in near perfect time to cumulatively complete along the way: 10+ minutes of planks with superb form, 110 merkins on plank-ravished arms, 70 squats, 40 L Lunges, and 40 R Lunges, making for one slow mile.
COT: Two prayer requests were laid where they belong, on the capable shoulders of our mighty God, and the details shall remain in confidence, as this is going on the world wide web. The PAX were mostly quiet when asked for prayer concerns, so they were encouraged to pray about anything they may have been thinking about but were reticent to share.
I want to thank Icy Hot for trusting me to Q after a year and a half hiatus from bootcamps with only a dozen or so exceptions. Shout out to my man, Homer, still posting at our home AO after I talked him into this crazy workout cult a few years back. Another shout out to Exile for schnazzy sock choice. To OP for always keeping me in line and doing fine as I struggle through a beatdown. Liz King – thanks for coming to my VQ… Enjoying some heady convo with Coco, whose actual VQ is this coming MONDAY! You’re going to crush it, man. And cheers to the new sight Q’s, Blue Light and Test Tube for taking up the mantle of sustaining an exceptional culture at this great beatdown. The Clinic was my home base before being taken out by some digestive and health issues. By God’s grace and often through Icy Hot’s stellar EH’ing, I’m slowly getting back into the habit of posting at this workout. The goal is once a week now, and more in the future. The men of the Clinic are just an awesome bunch of dudes that I’m privileged to know, to be led by, and to (VERY) occasionally lead.
To each man who posted this chilly morning, thank you for joining me. See you in the gloom.
