TURKEY BEATDOWN
Couch Potato and Hustler went turkey hunting on Sunday and slaughtered a tricky turkey. The gobbler and the hunt became the inspiration for a unique beatdown.
Each PAX was asked in Slack to bring a broom handle or similar for use as each PAX’s “shotgun.” Circled up, etc., then ran a half mile and circled up on the BB court, which became the home base of Ellis Farm, Couch Potato’s family far in Rockmart where we hunted. The PAX noticed that there were three turkey decoys on the 100-yard field, which, they learned, were stations representing different stages of our hunt: stalking, scrambling/positioning and successful shot.
GOC (Gobbler Obstacle Course)
Three decoys on field; Start at the Ellis Farm; Army crawl with rifle to first decoy; 10 merkins; Back to farm; Army crawl with rifle to first decoy; 10 merkins again; Bear crawl to second and do 10 LBCs; back to station 1 and back to farm (you get the idea); then karaoke to third — success — 30 star jumps and back to previous stations. Whew.
One wrinkle… whenever the PAX heard a owl hoot call, then do a burpee. Funny, when Hustler hit on his owl call, an actual barred owl answered, so two burpees.
Ok, with that thank done, then we Turkey Trotted the half-mile circuit around the park with one PAX holding one end of the gun and the other holding the other end.
Then to Gobbler’s Knob Hill where we did 7s with squat, rifle carry up the knob, and BBS at the top. Occasionally, Hustler woudl hit on the hooter and just as often that silly barred owl would hoot. PAX did a burpee whenever they heard either, although they weren’t happy about it.
Back to the flag for 5 minutes of Mary.
All said it was THE BEST BEATDOWN EVER, or close to it.
We prayed for our 6th man, Small Worl for balance between fam, work; P-body for his travels to Florida; PJ for his travel; for CP’s wife’s health; for the women ins the Count’s life and for Hustler’s wonderful wife.
We balled it up and sucked down some beautiful, hot coffee and yucked it up before reving up and heading into the world to bring God’s peace and love to all!
Happy Easter, ya’ll!
