The call rang out late yesterday… Hartford went down and needed someone to pinch hit and take the Q for today. As you know, pinch hitters strike out more than anything else and YHC was no exception.

It was a perfect 61 degrees and YHC arrived with the increased excitement and nervousness that comes with the responsibility of leading. The Pax were counted and the number was 12. YHC made the decision that the beatdown would be spread out enough that breaking into two groups was not needed. And just like that we were on the move. A quick mosey around Freedom MS with some nice IBM related banter with Hardrive (retired IBMer) made for a pleasant start.

We circled up behind the school and after a quick disclaimer jumped right into the warm-o-rama. 15 SSH IC, 15 Weed pickers, 10 Windmills, 8 Copperhead squats, 5 Copperhead merkins. Mosey to main entrance (bottom of hill).

The Thang: As soon as instructions were given two Pax found their way to the group. Don’t ever underestimate the value of an extra 90 seconds of sleep. The beatdown was simple. Modified 4 Corner Escalators. Lap one: 10 Hand release merkins at each corner. Lap two: add 20 Jump lunges. Lap three: add 30 Peter Parkers. Lap 4: 40 Flutter kicks. Early into lap two, YHC realized the folly of all those Peter Parkers and modified to a set of 30 or 3 fails, which ever comes first. Don’t ask which came first. Except RugBurn and The Situation, they killed the workout and did YHC the courtesy of pretending they tried hard. CrissCross and MallCop were the first back to the flag, they had a little too much energy at the end IMHO.

GREAT to see the regulars T, Short, Twinkle, Dump, Swap and especially nice to see Snap-On back at the Den. I would like to thank OddJob for sticking close to YHC during the event and acting as beat as YHC was. Special shout out to Tackleberry. This was his second beatdown (EH’d by MallCop) and he came through like a champ.

COT: Cat Box starting this Saturday at 6:30am at Bridgemill park. Prayers for direction and guidance for 18 year old buddy of Criss Cross’. Bakery/Chop House/Puddle back at it tomorrow morning for ch 8 + 9. Check Slack for time and place.

Until next time…
