One year together… ish. YHC will really celebrate 1 year on Saturday the 14th… but close enough.
Warm-O-Rama: Mosey down the hill loop, up the street between the schools and back around. mixed it up a little from the typical loop
side straddle hops, weed pickers (not enough. got way too many grumbles), Blarts, copperhead merkins and we were off.
The Thang: I wanted to pay homage to some of the best/worst workouts I have experienced in the last year. I set up five stations with a map similar to something Pie Bar had done. Lots of trash talk about my map. “is it to scale?” Yes, yes it is. “did you run out of ink?” “are we on COVID ink rations” “where is this supposed to be?” Clearly the PAX can’t see at 0530 and they can’t read maps either. I printed a legitimate map of the schools and added location tags.
STATION 1 in front of Freedom: 25 chicken peckers, lap around the circle, dragon walk down and back up a bus lane, lap, 50 Carolina dry docks, lap, 15 workins, lap
STATION 2 Liberty bus lanes: partner up. Partner 1 begins running around the circle while Partner 2 does 25 curls for the girls. WITH COUPON (they hated me for this) run and catch Partner 1. Swap, rinse/repeat until 250 cumulative curls.
STATION 3 Liberty parking lot: I brought an old school boom box. Paid for 6 C batteries and everything. I had relearned how to burn a CD and made a copy of Thunderstruck. For this we would side straddle hop the entire song and perform 1 burpee each time Thunder/Thunderstruck was sung. 33 burpees were performed. 33. that’s not so bad…
STATION 4 Freedom sign: Starting at the bottom of the hill, Bernie Sanders to the top. perform 25 squats and jog back. rinse/repeat until the ENTIRE ThunderBurpee group has arrived to relieve you from the pain.
STATION 5 Freedom basketball courts: Four Corners. Start in one corner. Perform 20 reps each of American hammers, crunchy frogs, flutter kicks (Kodiak count) and Rosalitas. Rotate clockwise. Bear crawl on short legs and lung on the long legs. Repeat exercises but 30 reps, next corner 40, final corner 50.
We ended with COT praying for PAX going thru hard times and illnesses.
I truly enjoyed this beatdown. It brought great joy to see how many middle fingers and “I hate you!” I was able to capture today. I was worried this would have been a really easy beatdown, but it proved that it could stand true to the needs of the Den. Already planning my second anniversary beatdown…
