Sitting in the gloom on a gloomy weather day, and not receiving any response to his promo post earlier, in conjunction with Alcoa’s ridiculous beat down taking place at the Crossroads, YHC wondered if it was going to be a wash. Already thinking about taking the dogs on a ruck if no one showed, a lone vehicle started driving up the bus lanes and passed slowly by the parking area. Thinking it was a cafeteria worker, YHC’s hopes of a long dog walk still existed.
However, the vehicle comes back and someone gets out and introduces himself as an FNG. Great! Two of us are going to have a good time, then Swisher, Pella, and Dory show, with the PAX picking up Cricket on the Mosey. Six strong! Dory is still on the running IR, so he had his own beat down setup. Thinking it was going to rain, we moseyed over to the front of the high school in case we needed to modify and get under the awning, where Dory was set up. Circled up, turns out the FNG had been to a beat down before so he was already named Altar Boy.
Warm-O-Rama: SSH, Imperial Walkers, Weed Picker, Windmills, Good Mornings, and Sun gods/Michael Phelps.
The Thang
PAX lines up at the speed bump. This is a modification of running the five hunnert exercise that PAX hated that they loved down South. Rep number was 15, and we cycled through calf raises on the curb, squats, American hammers (Kodiak count), and merkins…then a quick mosey around the giant loop, with a skedaddle from the end to the next speed bump with a recovery walk back to the start.
Round 2. Still 15 reps, but add LBCs and Crunchy Frogs in the middle, along with everything else.
Round 3. Same as Round 2.
Round 4. Add double squat jumps to the end of the exercises, 10 reps.
All in all, got in about 1.7 miles.
Such a slow mosey to the end of the breezeway some might mistake it for a walk, where we did escalating Yul Brenner’s every other column down the breezeway. Magnificent Seven merkins with Wide, Reg, Ranger, Diamond, right arm forward, left arm forward, chuck norris…all while staying up in plank. Mosey backward to the start and then add 1 round of Yul Brenners at next column. Got up to five rounds. PAX did some Mary. YHC was tired, so only made it for Dory’s call of Box Cutters. Other stuff was done.
Mosey back to the Flag where we finished off with Captain Thors, made it to seven crunchy frogs after finishing 24 American Hammers.
Many prayers were shared as folks deal with cancer, potential cancer, and donating organs. Hard work was done and we were impressed/worried when the FNG wrote down both his contact info and emergency contact info before the beat down started. Probably a smart idea. Its was cold, windy, and drizzly, so we called it a day, but a good time was had by all.
