The BackBlast:

Intro:

With it being a Wednesday, aka Hump Day, YHC thought we’d have an old-fashioned challenge for Employee of the Month.   Read on to find out who won!

Warm-o-Rama:

Starting with the musical accompanyment of  Loverboy’s “Working for the Weekend”, the ‘staff’ took a mosey around the parking lot, and ended up at the front corner of the drop off lanes.   20 SSH, 10 Imperial Walkers, some OYO Michael Phelps and Sun Gods followed by 10 Weed Pickers later (and subsequent to numerous discussions around Disney visits in an obvious attempt to throw the Q off track), we finished up and crossed the street to the CMS parking lot.

The Thang:

Trying not to confuse the PAX (since it IS hump day), YHC laid out the plan for the day.  We paid homage to each day of the work week, with increasing exercise counts each day in hopes of seeing who would rise to the top performer spot.

Monday:

  • 10 Burpees
  • 20 Squat Jumps
  • Lap around the parking lot

Tuesday:

  • 30 Big Boy Situps
  • 40 Peter Parkers
  • Lap around the parking lot

Wednesday (THE day that seperates the men from the boys):

  • 50 Ranger Merkins
  • 50 Box Cutters
  • Lap around the parking lot

Thursday (ramping down):

  • 40 Bench Dips
  • 30 War Hammers
  • Lap around the parking lot

Friday (the day we live for):

  • 20 Copperhead Squats
  • 10 Burpees
  • Lap around the parking lot

By this time, we had some ‘stars’ rising to the top in a fight for the coveted award, so the PAX continued on, repeating the weekday schedule.

With Twiggy cutting out early to  join the LAX team for practice, that left only one member who was not a RESPECT Club member to carry the torch.   By ‘working’ 8 days this week, the winner of  Employee of the Month is…..  Cricket (insert sigh of underwhelm here).  Well done, laddie!   The remaining ‘experienced’ PAX all had strong showings, however, with everyone putting in at least 6 days and a few 7.   Great work!   Cricket now gets a reserved parking space at the Kodiak for the remainder of Q1.  😉

We finished up with 2 minutes of Mary at the flag.   Well done, all!

COT:

We heard from Doubtfire about his 98 year old Aunt Mary who is battling lung cancer on Monday, and he shared an update on a call he made to her.  It was touching and respectful.  We prayed for an easy transition for her, and know that her strong faith will be rewarded.   We then discussed the tribute video CSD shared for Ellie and her family.   Very moving.  YHC can only imagine that we all, as husbands, fathers, uncles and family friends feel the pain of such a loss.   Many thanks to CSD for getting the entire Nation involved in the tribute.   Prayers for her family to find solace and peace.

Naked Man Moleskin:

YHC was impressed with the percentage of RESPECT PAX in the group today.   It’s inspiring to see everyone working hard to improve mind, body and spirit regardless of the continuing turning of the pages on a calendar.   Great to see Twiggy pop in for as long as he could.  Guess he heard the 12-man chant on Monday!   Of course, Cricket always inspires, Tebow is a real smooth operator, showing up, working hard and pushing, pushing, pushing.   Doubtfire smiles the entire time, so we’re never sure if he’s struggling or laughing at us and Dory plows ahead, essentially telling his knee to suck it up!

Keep it up, men.    Regardless of age, you all have earned YHC’s RESPECT.   Oh, and congratulate Cricket on his achievement.
