The F3 / FiA Cherokee PAX had been preparing for weeks to support the Next Step Ministries 5K and to push 6 of their clients in the racing wheelchairs provided by Speed for Need.  The WoodStock Rucks crew was the first to arrive since they moved the workout to the parking lot of FBCW.  JB arrived with the SFN trailer in tow which was quickly unloaded by the PAX.  Tent and table were set up, flags were planted, and the huge SFN banner was erected.  The PAX then began prepping the chairs making sure the handlebars were adjusted and secured and the tires were properly inflated.  Quick tube change on a tire by BloodHound and Maaco.  Then the Drivers and their families began to arrive.  The PAX greeted them and showed them to their Chariots!  After a “quick” group picture from Exile they moved to the starting line and were off.  Team David was pushed by RatTail and Cricket.  Team Erin was pushed by DixieChick, LawDog and Bloodhound, Team Eve was pushed by Compassion (FiA), WonderWoman (FiA) and Ultra (FiA), Team Lanier was pushed by Maaco, BoSox  and Driftwood, Team Nicolas was pushed by Hopper, BabyRuth and Quagmire, and the last minute edition of Team Tink (Christina) was pushed by HangNail, LizardKing and FarmCountry.  Total of 67 PAX were registered for the race and a total of 101 on the F3/FiA Cherokee Team (Largest Team Award).  Everyone finished, medals and shirts were handed out.  Several F3C PAX won medals in their Age Groups and overall.  The parents and Next Step employees were very appreciative of F3/FiA and Speed for Need!  It was a successful event and really encapsulated all three F’s and allowed us all an opportunity to serve members of the special needs community and to truly live third!  Can’t wait till next year or the next event!
